Sharon Gibala joined the KXAN news team in July of 2000 as the weekday Williamson county reporter and morning Live Chopper 36 reporter. Don't be surprised if you see Sharon covering morning traffic one minute, the scene of a search and rescue mission the next, and reporting on Williamson county at 6 p.m.
Prior to News 36, Sharon worked at NBC-25 in Hagerstown, Maryland, where she was part of a news team which covered four states - Maryland, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. Some of the more memorable stories Sharon has reported on have been the 1999 Shepherdstown Peace Talks and more recently she accompanied the Maryland National Guard on a peace enforcement mission to Bosnia.
Sharon's first job out of college was as an assignment editor and associate producer at WBFF Fox 45 in Baltimore, Maryland.
Sharon is a proud graduate of The University of Maryland at College Park, home of the Maryland Terrapins.
Originally from the east coast Sharon loves boating and is a big fan of the Washington Redskins. When Sharon's not hard at work you can find her hiking, watching movies or just hanging out with some of her new Austin friends.
