Laurie Kovach is a weekend co-anchor and reporter on KXAN News 36 AT 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. She was voted best reporter in 1999 by the Texas Associated Press.

Laurie joined KXAN in January of 1999. She is our city reporter and often covers issues concerning Austin's growth. Laurie also covered the Texas A&M bonfire collapse from College Station and the search for suspected railway killer Rafael Maturino Resendiz.

Laurie is a San Diego, California native. She attended the University of San Diego where she earned a B.A. in communication. She got her start in television at KWES-TV in Midland, Texas where she was a morning anchor and reporter.

Before beginning her journalism career, laurie lived in Spain for several years where she became bilingual in Spanish.
