Rich Parsons

Rich Parsons Rich joined the News 36 team in May 1998 as political and general assignment reporter.

Prior to KXAN, Rich worked at WXLV-TV in Winston-Salem, NC where he covered "Big Tobacco," Hurricane Bertha and the retirement of Tarheel basketball legend Dean Smith.

Before Carolina, Rich worked for WSET-TV in Roanoke, Va. Some memorable stories there were the U.S. Senate race between Oliver North and Senator Charles Robb (Lady Bird Johnson's son-in-law) and the Virginia Military Institute's losing battle to keep women out.

Rich's first job out of college was in the land of the blues, the Mississippi Delta, at WABG-TV in Greenville, way back in 1990.

Originally from Seattle, Rich bleeds the purple and gold of the Washington Huskies and says he's glad to be back west of the Mississippi for the first time in eight years.

When he's not working, Rich enjoys golf, playing on the KXAN Mad Cows softball team and listening to some of the best blues in the world, right here in Austin.
