Julie Schultz is the morning reporter for KXAN'S Firstcast. She joined the news team in August 2000.
Julie got her start in television at KAMC-TV in Lubbock, TX. There, she worked as a general assignment reporter covering everything from crime to Texas Tech. From there, Julie ventured south to KWES-TV in Midland, TX where she was the morning anchor and Crime Watch Reporter.
It was in Midland where Julie won an Associated Press award for exposing where Midland and Odessa Police were issuing the most speeding tickets and some of the practices they used to catch drivers. She also had the opportunity to chase some West Texas tornadoes.
Julie is no stranger to Central Texas and is glad to be back home. She grew up in New Braunfels and is a proud Texas Longhorn. Julie graduated with a degree in journalism from UT'S broadcast sequence.
In her spare time, Julie enjoys running, reading, traveling, and spending time with her fiancé Zack.
